Original gilt metal full dress RFC wings with typical brooch fittings mounted on short end plates to the wing tips.

Note that there were a number of different methods of mounting the pins. In some instances the mounting plate completely covered the back of the badge (this necessitated two holes being drilled into the plate to allow for air to escape when the brooch fittings were soldered on). You can see that type and a few others at  http://worldofmilitarywings.com/ You need to scroll down within the blue section on the left of the page and go to the United Kingdom section, then Royal Flying Corps, Pilots, Metal Pilots Wings.

Other examples are illustrated in the "Eagles Recalled" by Warren Carroll, which is an excellent reference book on British and Commonwealth wings.
